Do you remember a time when you had something wonderful laid out and it didn’t go according to plan... but it went better? I feel like this month has been full of reminders of us making plans and God adjusting them to fit His will.
We had people praying daily for the open sponsorship spot and God showed up in a big way - right before we left for Haiti! Just 24 hours prior to boarding a plane to head to Haiti - we received a message from a donor asking to fill all remaining sponsorship spots for the kids at the Maranatha House.
Every. Single. One!
What this means is that we not only will be able to sustainably continue to offer the same amazing services for these children, but we can improve on what we already have and expand our outreach further.
We thought we would record the kids' reaction when we told them about this well-fought victory... and let me tell you...it was anticlimactic. It wasn't until 2 days later that I realized how valuable it was that they hadn't realized the impact and implication of it. These kids know that they are going to be cared for, just like our own sons and daughters know and trust that of us. Because of people like you, we can breathe easy knowing that they will have a place to live, they will eat, have shoes, exceptional care, AND receive a top education.
While the initial reaction may not have been as dramatic as we had hoped, the kids were still excited to celebrate with us once we popped some sparkling cider!
The week in Haiti was full of highlights and praises happening every day. The first day we got to give a special gift to Danielo that his sponsors got for him. It was exactly what he had asked for, a camera. We learned in the days to come that photography can become a lucrative opportunity for him. He was both humble, excited, and grateful for the opportunity to be sponsored through school. He will be attending college in the fall where he’ll study computer networking and videography.
Friday we attended Danielo's graduation and then witnessed him at his own party serve his guests with such an open heart.
Saturday we spent time washing the feet of the children and staff. They really took it to heart. And without prompting, took action and began washing each other’s feet. We talked a lot about serving, and how even serving someone we may have a hard time loving, can change our hearts towards Christ.
We had 3 of our kids named “Top of the Class,” --a huge accomplishment! So we treated them to ice cream and to the beautiful beach for some swimming. They were very proud of their achievements and excited to celebrate! That night while the rain poured down around us, we ate popcorn while kids watched a movie on a laptop and enjoyed the time together. Watching this take place felt like a realization of 7 years of Ncompass family prayers culminating.
It was very clear that every step and every meeting of this trip was ordained exactly the way it was supposed to happen. We had big accomplishments, big dreams, and big encouragements.
We couldn't have done it without you faithful prayers and support! THANK YOU!
With much love and Prayers,
