I am Eleanor Niedermeyer, and I am Ncompass
Eleanor traveled to Haiti with Ncompass, in 2014. Her younger brother, Joseph, had been with us a few other times and encouraged and inspired her to tag along. This particular trip has had a profound impact on her life.
"After going to Haiti with Ncompass, I switched my general International Relations major to International Relations concentrating in Development and Sustainability. When I interned In Geneva, Switzerland for the International Center for Migration, Health, and Development, I focused my research on international humanitarian relief work in Haiti. Now as a college graduate, I am hoping to have an eventual career working in an NGO like Mercy Corps or Partners in Health. It's safe to say that my experience with Ncompass has impacted most parts of my young adult life. It influenced what I studied in college, what I researched during my summer internships, and what I hope to eventually do as a career. Ncompass continues to inspire me with their work and pushes me to work harder towards my goals. It's weird to say, but I can't imagine my life without Ncompass."
I AM KEKETTE OSWALD, AND I AM NCOMPASS
Kekette is a key member of our Transitions team. She brings with her years of experience helping youth age out of the orphanage system and become productive members of their communities. We are grateful for her wisdom, her consistent love, and pursuit of the best for each of the youth she works with.
I am Nicole Witherell, and I AM NCOMPASS, as a KIDSTARTER.
Nicole was a very independent child growing up. Always sweet, friendly, smiling at everyone she came in contact with and was always looking for another child to
share her toys with.So it wasn't a surprise years later when she had the opportunity to take part in a Service trip to Peru in 2016, she jumped at the chance. Nicole and her best friend spent 3 full days becoming part of the Casa Sana family. They spent 12 hours each day completing community service in the urban and rural areas of Piura; a dusty, dry, hot and very impoverished area of Northern Peru. Nicole taught seniors, teens and children how to make bracelets -- she even had instructions written in Spanish!
Again it wasn't a surprise a year later that she wanted to continue to give back to Casa
Sana even if she wasn't in Peru. She became a Kidstarter to raise money to replace classroom supplies that were destroyed in
recent flooding in the area.
Nicole did exceptionally well with her Kidstarter project. Not only did she exceed her goal of raising $1000, but she gain valuable experience from this process that she will take with her the rest of her life.
I AM STEPHANIE HANSON, AND I AM NCOMPASS
"I have been involved with Ncompass for many years now and this will always be an organization that is close to my heart! Ncompass is all about developing and empowering children. I am so fortunate to get to see the smiles on these kids faces. With Ncompass you are constantly being updated on whats going on in Haiti. You get to see all the hard work put into action over there, it's not just a bunch of talk. Ncompass takes action! I was lucky enough to go to Haiti once, and it has forever changed me."
Stephanie continues to volunteer with Ncompass. She has contributed her fabulous art work to our dinners the last two years, and she helps our executive team with projects on a regular basis. Thank you for being apart of our Ncompass Family Stephanie!
I AM JANIE CUDDY, AND I AM NCOMPASS
"I was involved in Ncompass when it started as a grassroots effort by my son and a group of college friends and I am so proud of their commitment , integrity, and hard work. It is so exciting to see the work that has been done and the transformed lives through their dedication and faithful service. Ncompass has transformed lives and hearts!"
Janie truly has been around since the beginning. As the mother of one of our founders, she was one of our original partners. We are grateful to have had your support in the early years, and your continued support as we grow and reach for the vision that God's given us.
I am Meaghan Giard, and I am Ncompass.
"Ncompass has impacted my life because it empowered me to make a difference in the world. After my trip to Haiti with them I felt empowered to do something back home. That’s where they connected me with Kidstarter and I raised funds to bring clean water to Haiti. I now because of Ncompass have learned how to serve in my community and around the world."
Meaghan is a Junior in high school. Last year, she encouraged her classmates to participate in a Water-Bag-Challenge, where they drank water from baggies for a day to experience what it is like to have that as your only reliable source of drinking water.
I am Danielo Chery, and I am Ncompass.
"I was born into a very large family. My parents needed to lean on the Maranatha House to help raise and support some of their children. I, and four of my brothers and sisters, have since called the Maranatha House our home. While this isn’t the most ideal upbringing for a child, I am making the most of the opportunities set before me.
I really like school. And I am doing my best to study hard to pass my exams.
I tutor some of the younger kids at the Maranatha House, and enjoy taking pictures. You may have seen some on Facebook recently."
Danielo is smart. Really smart. From an early age, we recognized an entrepreneurial mindset in him. He sees the world differently than others in his community. He was one of the first kids at the Maranatha House to learn English, which will create opportunities for his future career path. Last year, he received his Driver’s License, which sets him apart among most other Haitians as one who can legally drive - creating another career opportunity. This Spring, Danielo will graduate high school, and his future is bright. And while many of his peers have traditional dreams of becoming a doctor, or teacher, or business person, Danielo longs to be a DJ -- “DJ Hadly Mix” to be exact. And among the determination to for success lies a tender heart that believes in the potential of every individual. “I think it’s just a part of life to help anyone if you can. When you help someone, you will get back what you give.”
Now that we are three weeks post fundraising dinner, I’ve had a lot of time to process and appreciate all the wonderful things that happened. It indeed was a powerful room that night!
We had 250 guests, of which, 60% were new to Ncompass. I love seeing how you all want to encourage your friends to take part in this movement with you.
More than that, we were able to cover all the costs associated with the dinner well in advance, so it was free for all our guests to attend. The meal, the drinks, the decorations all combined for such a fun evening. I was blessed to meet so many of you for the first time, and was honored to hear your hearts for youth development.
More than that, we had the largest team of dinner volunteers to date, who all poured their heart into this event, and into our mission. The night also brought in many more people who want to stay engaged through our prayer team and volunteer team.
And even more than that, collectively, we were able to raise nearly $50,000 which will continue to sustain our programs, and together we will be able to serve, develop and empower more youth around the globe.
Thank you to each and every one of you who came that night and for those who supported this effort.
But I also want to thank the people who didn’t come....
I am Trudy Martin, and I am Ncompass.
Ncompass has impacted my life in such a positive way.
It has taken my belief of the developing world and turned it upside down.
My visit to Haiti this past December was eye opening: from the daily life and infrastructure, to the incredible people there -- with hopes and dreams very much like ours.
The strength and Godly belief of the people we met inspires me daily.
My empathy changed to caring. Ncompass offered a wonderful life shift from me to see what can I do for my fellow man.
I’m much more travel adventurous than before, and our family is eager to see and help many other countries.
I thank Ncompass for all they do for others and for opening a new perspective for my family.
Ncompass is striving to become a leader in impacting and building up today’s youth for the Kingdom of God. We are committed to taking a bold, innovative and strategic business approach to inspire global action.
