I don't know how many of you out there are parents but I have three boys. Somewhere along the line they have decided that they like to ask me questions simply to tell me my answer is wrong. Granted, it's very rarely wrong, but somewhere deep down inside I'm thankful that I have inquisitive children. I know that it will keep them on their toes as they grow.
The problem is when I give them the answer and they decide they don't like it they go about their own way or pretend they didn't even hear me. More than being frustrated that they didn't listen to my answer -- it's REALLY frustrating that they asked me in the first place if they weren't going to listen! Suddenly, it struck me how often do we do that to God? How often do we say "God I need you" and simply not rely on His answer? Apparently, a lot because I found countless verses in the Bible talking about heeding God's word. How many times does God wish He could say "I told you so"? Thankfully a lot less than me I'm sure. But ultimately just like I know what answer my kids are looking for when they ask me, God knows exactly what we're asking for more than that He knows exactly what we need.
1st John 5:15 reminds us of that:
"And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him."
We received a $10,000 matching grant from Mission Increase Foundation- to match new, monthly recurring gifts! This is so exciting as we know it signifies growth to have received this grant but is also giving us the opportunity to build up our infrastructure.
We had 14 village students’ education sponsored this last month!
Three of the young men in our Transitions Program started Trade School for Computer Science! They are doing well and loving it!
As we go into the week of our annual dinner will you pray with me that the speakers hear the exact words that God needs to speak into the people at the dinner? Will you also pray that those words fall upon open and obedient hearts? Pray that we do not limit those who are there, by what we say or do, but instead glorify God's work through us.
We’ve been making some incredible connections for future partnerships with churches and businesses. Please pray that they continue to flourish.
Our two high school graduates from the Maranatha House - Danielo and Wideline both start college in the next few weeks. Pray for their success, and that intellectual growth will bloom!
